Take advantage of wall space in unfinished basements or garages by adding sturdy shelves. Storage shelves are a quick project that can make a big difference. For depth and height of shelves figure out what you plan on storing there, such as plastic bins, boxes, or just miscellaneous things. Large plastic bins work well because they can be labeled, and the shelves can be built to fit them exactly to maximize storage space. Another advantage of wall mounted shelving is that it can be level. Often basement and garage floors are not level or completely flat. This makes it difficult to properly set up a free standing set of shelves.
